Tehri Lake – Man Made Marvel
One of the largest man-made lakes in India, Tehri Lake is situated at an altitude of 1750mts above the sea level. Tehri Lake derives its name from the town of Old Tehri which lies in ruins inside this like.The lake is set at the confluence of the rivers of Bhagirathi and Bhilangana. Tehri Lake is a result of three decades of construction of the Tehri Dam which holds the water of Bhagirathi converting it into the lake of this magnitude.
The view of lush Green mountains reflected in the pristine blue water lake makes a view to behold. Tehri Lake encompasses an area of 44 sq kms., surrounded by hills from all side this majestic lake is set to become a major tourist Hotspot in upcoming years. The Uttarakhand Government is planning to convert it into an Adventure tourism destination, and the construction is at full swing at Koti Colony a residential area closest to the banks of the lake.
Visitor will be able to enjoy jet Skiing, ferry rides, paragliding and many other adventure related activities here.
